If you write science fiction, weird fiction, slipstream, horror or fantasy (or would like to) come on over to Madlab Wednesday May 12 and talk about setting up a monthly writers’ group here in Manchester.
All are welcome, from published authors to total beginners. If there’s enough interest we can set up a regular group, and the parameters and format are totally up for discussion.
The meeting will be from 7pm to 9pm.
Please let us know you might be coming in the comments below so we can get an idea of the numbers beforehand.

what time?
The meeting starts at 7…who knows when it will end?
I would be interested in attending this
Gutted I’ll miss this – hope it becomes a regular thing
I’ll be there for sure – a few other positive responses via twitter. Would be nice if we could set up a regular group.
Count me in as well
My intrigue has overcome my paranoia.
I’ll be there.
Yes, yes and triple yes!
I will change a shift at work just for this. its about time Manchester got its sci-fi act together
[...] and a list of people interested in coming can be seen from the news post earlier, it’s not too late to add [...]
I hope to be along to this one now I’m back at work etc. I’ve imagining some kind of story about a world where every vote counts and there’s a new political regime… hope its not still speculative on 12th May!
Adrian, it’s “Speculative Fiction Writing Group”, not Speculative, “Fiction Writing Group”, it’s defiantly happening!
Interesting. Very interesting. May not make the first meeting but…
Will be there!
Definitely coming. Manchester is in great need of an SF writing group. Can’t wait!
Won’t make the first one, unfortunately. Moving up to the Manchester area next month so will certainly be hoping to pop in for the second meeting.
‘fraid I can’t make it but would like to be in the loop for future meetings.
How did it go? Is another meet planned?
Could you add me to your mailing list please? I’d like to attend the next meeting(s).
Hi all. The first meeting went very well – there were 7 of us there and we agreed to try meeting twice a month starting in early June, and run the meeting on the Turkey City model (everyone has to bring work to discuss). I will post another message on this website when we have worked out the dates and details with the madlab folks. No email list yet so until we have one check back here for news of the next meeting.
I wonder if I could begin writing in time for the next meeting. Maybe write a sentence on the metro and read it out, creating a small hubbub.
