We’re planning to join in with the global AR devcamp happening on Saturday 5th December.
It’ll be a day of hacking, coding, making, showing and telling. If you’re interested, add yourself and make some notes on the Manchester side of the wiki.
We’ll print out a number of the more popular markers in advance, but to get the best from the day, there’s some basic equipment you should bring:
- Your laptop (Windows is generally easiest for AR applications, OS X next best choice, Linux will require some technical knowledge)
- A webcam (Logitechs are generally well-supported; if your machine has a fully operational built-in camera, that can be used too)
- A small hard surface to mount markers on
If you’re going to get involved in locative applications, some other equipment is recommended
If you want to work with the mscape toolkit
- a Windows Mobile phone with GPS
- computer with ActiveSync installed
If you want to work with Layar, make sure you have an Android phone
If you’re planning to hack some iPhone systems, bring your proprietary OS X dongle and devtools.
We’ll be posting more details here – check back regularly!
