Title: Arduino Meetup – August
Description: A meet up based in Manchester for all those interested in the Arduino prototyping platform. From creatives, designers, programmers, engineers, artists, makers, hackers and inventors, to students and do-it-yourselfers. And that’s just for starters.
Start Time: 18:30
End Time: 20:30
Booking: Sign up here
@Arduino_Mcr is an opportunity to regularly meet the rapidly growing Manchester Arduino community to share ideas, advice, stories and prototypes with one another over a few beverages.
If you have a prototype or project that you’ve been working on, drop us a quick message. It would be fantastic if people could bring along their Arduino based projects to show and discuss them. Please do get involved in any way you can and let’s bring together the Manchester based Arduino community.
Who’s who, beverages and face tracking devices
The first meetup will focus on getting to know each other over a couple of beverages and help shape the future of the group by agreeing on how regular the group should meet and content of the sessions (show and tell style, series of speakers, hackathon, group projects etc).
I’ll bring a couple of Arduino based projects that i’ve been tinkering with, show them working (hopefully) and be open to feedback, hacks and modifications! The first, a face recognition and tracking device (https://vimeo.com/22797787) that follows your face around the room. The second, a by product from my dissertation, essentially a context-aware RFID door entry system (https://vimeo.com/38290875).
Please do feel free to bring your latest Arduino project to show to us all. It’s always interesting in what other Manchester folk are creating!
The meetup is very much open to anyone who actively uses the Arduino platform or anyone who is thinking about tinkering with one. From absolute beginners to über geek status, all are welcome.
Follow the group on Twitter and RSVP to keep up to date. Oh, did I mention the first round of beverages is on me since it’s the fist meetup? :)
This event is sponsored by the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.
