InProcess:ing focuses on the Processing language, environment and community (though not exclusively) as a vehicle to support and encourage creative collaboration and meaningful exchange between a diverse group of practitioners, creatives and hobbyists. It aims to create a playful, experimental space and a supportive framework in which people can share their work, realise new technological ideas, be inspired, challenged and stretched.

  • Join us at the next session to see Processing in action, meet other interested and like-minded people and find out more about the project and how to get involved;
  • Visit the InProcess:ing website to catch up with developments and future plans, watch past presentations and follow up on interesting links;
  • Join the forum and share your favourite Processing sketches, suggest practitioners/work for future presentations, offer useful techniques and online resources and tell us what you’d like to see from the project.

NetTuesday

Title: Net Tuesday
Location: MadLab
Description: Free monthly gatherings for social changemakers and web innovators to network, socialise and share ideas about how nonprofits and social benefit organisations can use the social web for social change.
Start Time: 18:30
Date: 2010-03-23
End Time: 21:30

Net Tuesdays are an initiative of NetSquared, a Project of TechSoup. There are over 50 groups across the world.

For this meeting we will be joined by Harry Harrold from Neontribe, all the way from Norwich!
Neontribe specialise in building web projects and applications via a “user centred design” approach. This places the development firmly around those that will be the end users, and often produces results that are likely to have a strong take up.
In an “app economy” this is vital. But – what relevance can it have for developing for social, non-profit and charity causes?
Neontribe specialise in projects relating to education, youth and the third sector – and so Harry will share with us some of their projects, and the impacts and benefits that this approach can have.

Kabaret 2010

Kabaret 2010

Title: Filmonik Awareness Night
Location: MadLab
Description: Filmonik is an open platform for the North West’s independent filmmakers, be they Industry Professionals, self-styled Media Guerrillas, or relative novices still finding their creative voice. Emphasising resourcefulness and raw talent over polish and high production values, Filmonik provides an open door and a warm welcome for those making films with the minimum of means.
Start Time: 18:30
Date: 2010-03-22
End Time: 21:30

FILMONIK KABARET 2010 IS COMING IN APRIL! Over a week of flat out, peddle-to-the-metal 24/7 filmmaking, where fortune favours the brave, the quick-witted and the fast-working, where only the strong survive and the crazy obsessives flourish. If you’ve always dreamed of making “that little movie”, if only you had the time / talent / equipment, now is your chance to watch that dream crash and burn, and see something else come stumbling from the ashes.
But BEFORE then, we’re having a special “Filmonik Awareness Night” at MadLab. This is your chance to find out for yourselves who we are and what we are about; to see work from previous screenings, and in particular work produced during previous Kabarets. It is a chance to register an interest and get involved; to show your support for the region’s independent film scene.
The event is free, but we will be taking donations for the beer and any nibbles provided. Any money taken will go towards funding the Kabaret. Remember, this is all about pooling resources: Filmonik does well with nothing, but it will do better with something!
FILMONIK KABARET 2010: April 9th – 18th
THREE SCREENINGS: April 11th at Deaf Institute, April 14th at Cornerhouse Annexe, April 18th at Deaf Institute
For more details check out the Kabaret page on our website www.filmonik.com or contact: info@filmonik.com
