iPhone 4⁴ Workshop

iPhone 4 U

Title: iPhone 4⁴ Workshop
Location: MadLab (Upstairs)

Price: £300
Max number of participants: 16
Start Date: 2010-10-25
Start Time: 10:00
End Date: 2010-10-27
End Time: 16:00

The iPhone 4⁴ workshop is aimed at developers coming from other languages who want to learn Cocoa and Objective-C. The three-day, highly participatory, intensive workshop will cover the Objective-C language and various aspects of the Cocoa frameworks: constructing user interfaces, interacting with device features such as GPS/camera/accelerometer/gyroscope and interacting with remote data sources and APIs.

Participants will be organised into small teams (of around 4 people, preferably not people they work with already!) for the practical elements of the workshop, to create real, working applications.

The course will be led by Sam Easterby-Smith – an established coder and trainer who has worked on various iPhone and iPad projects including the Times newspaper iPad app and his own Gigometer. He has run numerous iPhone training workshops with UKOLN and North-West Vision and Media over the last year and is very pleased to be offering his second course at the Madlab. For more about Sam see his corporate site: http://spotlightkid.co.uk

Book your places now on Eventbrite.

IMPORTANT:
Participants will need to bring a Mac Laptop running Snow Leopard & any iOS devices they might have.

HEALTH WARNING:
The learning curve of Objective-C is quite steep and involve heavy use of object-orientation so this course is NOT RECOMMENDED for those new to programming. HTML and CSS do not count as programming. C++, Ruby and Java developers will be fine. Actionscripters and PHPers should be ok as long as they are familiar with OO concepts.
