Interesting Monday
Interesting Mondays
Mondays. A day of the week which isn’t frequently associated with the word “interesting”. Not any more, thanks to our new monthly meetup Interesting Monday!
How it works:
Essentially the aim is for Interesting Monday to be a “show and tell” kind of affair, a way for you to communicate your knowledge and passion for a particular subject or subject area to an audience of your peers. Other than that the rules are simple – presentations should be between 5 and 15 minutes long, and be about something which isn’t directly computer or social media related, as those are covered better by other meetups. Most important of all, they should be on something which is… interesting!
Obviously the scope is quite wide, so a good place to start might be a particular strand of science, a historical movement or figure, or even something such as a particular animal.
So, who’s game? The first event is planned for Monday the 18th of January, in just 2 weeks time.

To kick things off, I’m going to do an introduction to Knot Theory, a branch of Mathematics dedicated to the mathematical untangling of knots. Very Lewis Carroll, especially the “unknot”!
Sounds good, I’ll try and make it along
Great idea…I’ve very excitedly learnt how to make bread – it really is a doddle…I’d like to ‘demo’ that process (take about 10 minutes…) – when the Singularity occurs, this will be a key skill! Let me know, as I’ll need to do a little prep.
Fab, Guy! Yes, you’re on the list.
Want a session on stagecraft? Or nonverbal communication? or even Greek cooking ; ) ?
This sounds, if you’ll pardon the pun, interesting! Will have to keep my eye on this.
Maths, stagecraft and bread: great variety show: Manchester’s Cabaret Voltaire.
Perhaps the finale could be a performance of making a knotted bread.

And BTW I’m talking about the 1930s phenomenon that was “The Left Book Club.”
