Date: 05-03-2011
Start Time: 10:00
End Time: 17:00

This is the first in our programme of themed Hackdays, and we’ll like one and all to come down and participate. The day will be finish off with a evening of Sharable Music, the best of CC tunes. The line up of incredible talent for Music Hackday include HACMan, the hardware hacking group at MadLab and Amanda from the University of Salford and audio collective Kinokophone.
Make Your Own Instruments
There’ll be instruments built by local music and electronics hackers and some robotic musicians. A variety of kits from HACman will be available including the Drawdio, Micro Stylophone and Theremino. Experts will be on hand to help build your creations.
- The Drawdio is a musical pencil, which uses some basic analogue electronic components, your body’s internal resistance and the lead lines in the drawings you do to create music. (£7.50)
- Remember the stylophone? The piano-esque keyboard, with its very distinctive sound was incredibly popular in the 70s, and now we’re bringing it back, in a modern miniaturized form. (£7.50)
- Theremins are cool! Arduinos are also cool! We have combined the two devices to create the Theremino, an arduino-compatible theremin. The device will sound like a theremin but is re-programmable like an arduino. (£20)
Tonoscope Demonstration
Create beautiful symmetrical patterns with your voice!
Amanda will be demonstrating a Tonoscope between 2:00 – 3:00pm.
Tickets are free, but limited.
