Madlab is excited to present our first show, On the Other Side of the Globe : Exhibition of Korean contemporary artists and designers in Manchester & London.
The exhibition will be from August 3rd – 31st.
On the Other Side of the Globe is a part of international art exchange program of Art Connection Korea (ARCK) in Seoul, South Korea.
This exhibition will be placed at three locations for one month in August, 2010 in London at Britannia Centre, in Manchester at MADLAB (Manchester Digital Laboratory), and at ARCK online gallery (www.arck.co.kr). Over 50 artworks at London and Manchester locations will be also displayed at ARCK online gallery so that entire artworks collection of this show can be shown at once as well. 36 Korean contemporary artists and designers are participating this show. As fine art area participants of this show, there are Asian art artists, western art artists, digital art artists, photographers, and for design area participants, there are graphic designers, fashion designers, industrial designers, etc. Plus, along with such visual art areas, a writing piece and a music piece also take part of this show. The theme of this show is ‘Contemporary South Korean artists’ usage of Korean history into their artworks as a creative resource’, and there are five categories as following: Korean Traditional Subjects as Creative Resource, Korean Traditional Objects as Creative Resource, Korean Culture, Hybrid of East and West, Past and Future, Landscape of Korea, and Young Korean Artists and Designers.
The Madlab is a community space for people who want to do and make interesting stuff - a place for geeks, artists, designers, illustrators, hackers, tinkerers, innovators and idle dreamers; an autonomous R&D laboratory and a release valve for Manchester's creative communities.
