Science Fiction Book Club

Title: Sci-Fi Book Club
Location: MadLab
Description: Book Club for Science Fiction Fans
Start Time: 18:30
Date: 2010-01-16
End Time: 21:00

The first book for discussion is The Forever War by Joe Haldeman. In addition, we all decided that it would be a good idea to supplement the reading list with some short stories from A Science Fiction Omnibus which covers a wide range of classic science fiction authors such as Clifford Simak, Isaac Asimov and Philip K Dick.

Ryan has generously volunteered himself to administrate this group for the first meeting, and Tom will be the advocate for the first book. Also, there’s now an official Google Group which you can find here.

In addition, the person who comes up with the twitter #tag for this group will be presented with a copy of the Science Fiction Omnibus, so flick the switch on  your thinking caps to WIN.

Simply #SFBC maybe #SFBCmanc or if you wanted to spread the word then #scifibookclubmanc though my favourite would be #scifibcmanc. Tweeps agree? Gracias.

  2. Some more #ideas from the google group.

    Sarah-Clare Conlon – #sciboo

  4. [...] for all who came to last month’s meeting, and setting the standard high. This month we are reading J.G. Ballard’s The Downed [...]

  5. Love the forever war. The world it creates is very believable, the intergalactic nature interesting. The fact that they have to resort to ancient ways to battle a futurist war is a great fantasy angle.

  6. I’ve just published Chapter 4 on my online Sci-fi Serial if anybody fancies a look….Thanks
