Are you ready for an evening of art, inspiration and cosplay? Well we hope you are because the Cosplay Sketch-off is back with a second meetup at the Manchester Digital Laboratory.

Sketch, chat, create, dance and fill your bellies with the traditional sparkly cupcakes at this months’ sketch-off. We’ll be taking requests for J-pop and anime theme tunes so we hope you come prepared!

ROUGH ITINERARY:
(NB: all events are completely optional. If you just want to make your own fabulous art or drink tea or hang around to observe the amazginess, feel free to do so!)

1800-1815:

Meet and Greet: take seats, get to know everyone, make suggestions for music playlist, that sort of thing.

1815:

Welcome and a brief introduction

1820-1830:

Some warm up 2 minute sketching sessions

1830-1845:

Chat and relaxation, everyone looks at art work. Anyone who would like to take the floor to talk about their inspiration/techniques/etc. for two minutes is more than welcome.

1845-1900:

5 minute sketching sessions

1900-1915:

Another chat and relaxation session (it’s the first meetup after all so it would be nice to have time to get to know each other).

1915-1945:

10 minute sketching sessions and then the Ultimate Sketch-off of Ultimate Destiny!

1945-2000:

Look at art, discuss the art, think about what else would be cool to do next time!

TICKETS ARE FREE, BUT BOOKING IS ADVISED SO WE KNOW HOW MUCH CAKE TO GET!

History as they say is written by the winners and all too often not by the people who actually helped make it happen. This is why it’s become increasingly important for oral history to be recognised as a viable source of untold stories and perspectives that would otherwise be lost over time.

An afternoon of memories and cake!

Our first Oral History event took place on 27th March

where a group of us fought the cold to come together and recollect how our beloved Northern Quarter has changed over the years. Some of us had only been in Manchester for six months, others for decades but we all had some unique story to tell, some unique fact that no one else would have known.
