The Mystery of Filmonik Revealed

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

With less than a month left before the Kabaret, the Filmonik team decided it might be nice to raise a bit of awareness about who we are, what we do, and why people should be getting involved. And we persuaded the lovely people at MadLab to let us use their excellent space for the evening. (more…)

Kabaret 2010

Title: Filmonik Pre-Kabaret Meet
Location: MadLab
Description: Filmonik is an open platform for the North West’s independent filmmakers, be they Industry Professionals, self-styled Media Guerrillas, or relative novices still finding their creative voice.
Start Time: 18:00
Date: 2010-04-08
End Time: 20:00

FILMONIK KABARET 2010 IS NEARLY HERE!

And we hope you’ve been taking your vitamins in readiness. This will be nine-day marathon of flat out, peddle-to-the-metal 24 hour filmmaking, part creative boot-camp, part extended jam session. We are looking for directors, writers, actors, animators musicians, cameramen, lighting and sound people, creatives of all types who are up for a challenge and want to push themselves to the limit.

The Kabaret will kick off on Friday 9th April, 2010. And we will be hitting the ground running. There are films to be made and insane creative deadlines to be met. So we will not want to be wasting too much time on paperwork, rules and regulations, and general red tapery. This being the case, Filmonik is having a Pre-Kabaret meeting on Thursday April 8th, at MadLab for all interested parties. It will be possible to catch up after this if you are unable to attend, and we will be sending out email information to all committed participants in addition to this, but we still recommend people to attend if at all possible. This will be a time to ask questions, get your Kabaret pass sorted out, and meet your fellow creatives. A time to test the feasibility of what you want to do and plan your schedule accordingly.

FILMONIK KABARET 2010: April 9th – 18th

THREE SCREENINGS:

  • April 11th at Deaf Institute
  • April 14th at Cornerhouse Annexe
  • April 18th at Deaf Institute

For more details check out the Kabaret page on our website www.filmonik.com or contact:info@filmonik.com

Filmonik Awareness Night

Kabaret 2010

Kabaret 2010

Title: Filmonik Awareness Night
Location: MadLab
Description: Filmonik is an open platform for the North West’s independent filmmakers, be they Industry Professionals, self-styled Media Guerrillas, or relative novices still finding their creative voice. Emphasising resourcefulness and raw talent over polish and high production values, Filmonik provides an open door and a warm welcome for those making films with the minimum of means.
Start Time: 18:30
Date: 2010-03-22
End Time: 21:30

FILMONIK KABARET 2010 IS COMING IN APRIL! Over a week of flat out, peddle-to-the-metal 24/7 filmmaking, where fortune favours the brave, the quick-witted and the fast-working, where only the strong survive and the crazy obsessives flourish. If you’ve always dreamed of making “that little movie”, if only you had the time / talent / equipment, now is your chance to watch that dream crash and burn, and see something else come stumbling from the ashes.
But BEFORE then, we’re having a special “Filmonik Awareness Night” at MadLab. This is your chance to find out for yourselves who we are and what we are about; to see work from previous screenings, and in particular work produced during previous Kabarets. It is a chance to register an interest and get involved; to show your support for the region’s independent film scene.
The event is free, but we will be taking donations for the beer and any nibbles provided. Any money taken will go towards funding the Kabaret. Remember, this is all about pooling resources: Filmonik does well with nothing, but it will do better with something!
