PLEASE NOTE: THIS MEETING WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE CASTLE HOTEL, 66 OLDHAM ST, M4 1LE

This month, Paul Waring will be very kindly talking about Vagrant, a tool for automatically creating and provisioning virtual machines. Paul will provide an overview of Vagrant from the ground up, and demonstrations of automatically provisioning machines with the help of the Puppet configuration management software.

Unfortunately I am working that day, the room that the meeting is taking place is in is behind the bar (I think there are steps, don’t go up them, it is on the ground floor).

They are being very generous in allowing us the room for free so if you could cross their palms with some silver in the way of an occasional pint that would be good, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the real ales.

Title: Manchester Linux User Group & Manchester Free Software
Location: MadLab
Description:
This talk will be an introduction to MRTG (Multi Router Traffic Grapher), requirements, how to install and how to draw pretty graphs of devices on your LAN etc. I always get a tad suspicious when I see the lights on my router flashing away like it’s Christmas, ohh and I like to know what is going on, this is a good start. I would suspect most would find it useful to see what their home router is seeing, it is capable of much more.
Date: 12-05-2012
Start Time: 14:00
End Time: 17:00

Summary:

This is the postponed talk from last month and will be given by myself, it will be an introduction to MRTG (Multi Router Traffic Grapher), requirements, how to install and how to graph devices on your LAN and more besides. I would suspect most would find it useful to be able to probe their home router and servers.

Please come along, bring your friends and relatives, please feel free to cross post this far and wide.

PS, a voluntary contribution of £1 – £2 per person would be highly appreciated to assist our good friends at Madlab in their day to day running costs.
