NetTuesday

Title: Net Tuesday
Location: MadLab
Description: Free monthly gatherings for social changemakers and web innovators to network, socialise and share ideas about how nonprofits and social benefit organisations can use the social web for social change.
Start Time: 18:30
Date: 2010-07-27
End Time: 21:00

This month, we are pleased to have some short presentations around short cases studies from local non-profits using the web to their advantage.

So far we have:

Stevieflow: How Salford Lads’ Clubs sold t-shirts online to Smiths Fans, and fixed the leaking roof.

Edcox – How social media principles and keeping an eye on online trends translated into real world benefits for one local charity, The Lesbian & Gay Foundation.

Mark Morton: The benefits and the practicalities of getting supporters to engage with each other, based on our experience at Epilepsy Action.

More talks welcome! Please contact Steven Flowers (@stevieflow) if you can contribute. Presentations/talks/demos do not need to be long and exhaustive – five minutes would be fine!

Don’t forget to book your place, and look forward to seeing you.

Net Tuesdays are an initiative of NetSquared, a Project of TechSoup. There are over 50 groups across the world.

For this meeting we will be joined by Harry Harrold from Neontribe, all the way from Norwich!
Neontribe specialise in building web projects and applications via a “user centred design” approach. This places the development firmly around those that will be the end users, and often produces results that are likely to have a strong take up.
In an “app economy” this is vital. But – what relevance can it have for developing for social, non-profit and charity causes?
Neontribe specialise in projects relating to education, youth and the third sector – and so Harry will share with us some of their projects, and the impacts and benefits that this approach can have.
