Style Guide Clinic

Bring along your Style Guide for others to see.

What are they for? What should they contain? What should they not contain? We will tackle these and many more questions about Style Guides.

Bring paper copies or a copy on a memory stick.  Talk us through your guide and the rest of us will ask questions and make suggestions. The idea is to build up a consensus and not to run down or score points. We are keeping it friendly.

The event is free and open to anyone interested in technical communication such as technical authors, information architects, internal communication professionals, report writers, marketing writers, web content writers, graphic designers and Illustrators.

A Visual Communication Story in 3D

Description:  Are companies really utilising their design information to share ideas, market their products, and publish documentation that’s interactive and updated from a single source? Paul Hill from Waters Corporation will discuss how the use of 3D CAD data has developed in the Technical Communication community, and how Waters has utilised this technology to share content in its journey towards a fully integrated “Visual Enterprise”.

About the speaker: Paul is a Senior Technical Writer Team Leader at Waters Corporation.  He studied Technical Illustration in Swansea before living in Europe and working on automotive and aerospace projects for a large Technical Publication agency. His work has always centred on documents for engineered products, writing mechanical procedures, creating illustrated parts catalogues, as well as 3D mechanical design. His current role includes the integration of Right Hemisphere visualisation software into SAP and the subsequent training of employees throughout the company.
