Title: Open Data Hackday
Description: It is the second International Open Data Hack Day – Where the international open data community comes together to extract, reconfigure, mash up, and create interesting and beautiful things from open and not so open data.
Start Time: 11:00
End Time: 17:00
What is this thing called Open Data?
Open Data is data that is available without restriction for you to create interesting, valuable and new applications, interpretations and stories from. In most cases this is public data – data that has been created on our behalf by local authorities, government, police, transport etc. It can enable you to understand why things don’t work so well in you neighbourhood, allow you to create a cool application that will find the best and safest place to park, or the quickest and least expensive way to travel.
Who is it for
If you have an idea for using open data, want to find an interesting project to contribute towards, or simply want to see what’s happening, then definitely check it out. No matter your skillset or interests, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to learn and contribute.
So if you are a developer, hacker, journalist, artist, DJ, activist, allotment enthusiast, bus driver we would love to see you. The more people there, the better it gets.
