Title: RjDj Sprint
Location: MadLab
Description: Sprints are RjDj events where artists, musicians, composers, and developers get together to create RjDj scenes and do other mad things with sound.
Start Time: 10:00
Date: 2010-03-13
End Time: 16:00
Calling all artists, musicians, composers and developers with an interest in doing mad stuff with sound! For those that haven’t heard about RjDj, it’s described as “the next generation of walkman or MP3 player” and “a mind twisting hearing sensation.” Run it on your iPhone, iPod Touch or Android mobile phone and listen as RjDj filters and re-interprets your surroundings before piping the resulting peculiar noise into your headphones.
This Saturday we’ve got Martin Roth and Florian Waldner coming up from London to join us for an RjDj sprint, and they’ll be on hand to show people how to get started with writing their own RjDj filters (called “scenes”), introducing people to Pure Data, the awesome piece of open source audio manipulation software that scenes are written in, and generally being on hand to help people “do mad stuff with sound”. They’re also bringing with them a stack of iPhones and iPod Touches for anyone that can’t bring their own.

The rough structure for the day is as follows:
- Overall presentation of RjDj and the concepts of reactive music
- Short introduction into Pure data
- How to create RjDj scenes and get them on iPhones/iPods
- Collecting and discussing ideas for scenes
- Working on individual scenes (most of the time)
- Presentation of scenes
- Closing party
There’ll also be a “eurovision scene contest” (non europeans allowed
where the best scene which is done in the days of the sprint will achieve instant fame amongst the worldwide RjDj community!
Update: RjDj have a post about this event, where they’ll be showing the new RJC-1000 off!
