Pair Programming with TDD

The idea is to follow on from last month’s Refactoring and TDD focus,
and try to inject a bit of Pair Programming into the mix!

It will be a fully hands on pair programming session, in which
everyone works on the same problem using TDD/BDD.

For anyone not experienced with TDD, this will be a massive learning
experience, and hopefully very insightful. People that are experienced
will also benefit from seeing how other people work, and showing other
people how they work.
So, now we come to the obvious issue – computers. Could anyone with a
laptop set up for programming, bring it along, and let me know that
you are, so that we can ensure there are (hopefully) at least half the
number of laptops as people.

I’m very excited about this session. As much as hearing about how
people work is highly interesting

Classes, Responsibilities, Collaborators

This month we shall be doing a session on CRC cards, and a practical session using CRC cards to loosely plan design. CRC cards are a quick, low tech solution which can give all participants of a session an view of the class design during the planning phase of a feature.

Hope to see many old and new faces.

The subject for discussion this time around will be Code Smells. We will discuss ways of identifying “smelly code” as well as ways to get rid of smells in code.

I would really like someone else to organise a Coding Dojo in a different language than .Net, so if someone would like to volunteer for this, please get in touch with me, and I’ll be happy to help as much as I can.

Looking forward to seeing you all again.
