The Manchester Jewellers Network (MJN) was established in 2002 and is a regional group of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery (ACJ). The group meets regularly to network, lend mutual support and plan challenging new initiatives for both emerging and established jewellers. Through exhibitions MJN develops the profiles of designers in the region, raising an awareness of bespoke work and developing a forum for art jewellery. Exhibiting in new venues accessible to culturally diverse audiences MJN tours work both nationally and internationally. We are looking at development of MJN via online communication and satalite exhibitions, building blocks and stumbling blocks, for contemporary jewellers who design and make their own work.

Hi all, I am an artist that has recently started to incorpate some of my ideas into jewellery. I am at the early stages, trying out various materials and developing my design concepts. I would love to be involved and support MJN. Wanted to ask, before I come along to tonights event, if I’m welcome to join you all, without being an established jewellery making as yet-but have bags of enthusiasm!!

    Hi Lisa,

You are welcome to come along and learn what help is available, we have City college jewellery tutors and very experienced jewellers within the group that do workshops, tonight is about the communication and social network aspect for those involved proffessionally in exhibiting contemporary jewellery. So it depends if you wish to join us? I am running a project online for everyone who has a Grandma’s button tin, which will hopefully grow and see some great creative pieces!
