A one off-meeting of Writers Forum North sees MadLab’s monthly experimental poetry workshop play host to a reading line-up of three specially invited guests:

Jessica Pujol i Duran
Stephen Emmerson
and Ollie Evans

Please join us on December 9 from 6:30pm for a 7pm start for an evening of the best in contemporary poetry.

Entry is free and drinks will be available by donation before the reading and during the interval.

Jessica Pujol i Duran was born in Barcelona in 1982. She lived and studied in Santiago de Chile, Barcelona and Brighton and is currently living in London, though her home is Mataró in tropical Maresme. In London she is working on a Ph.D. on Julio Cortázar, Italo Calvino and experimental writing in the 1960s at UCL. Editor of the magazine Alba Londres she is also a poet and has written and translated extensively in Catalan and Spanish. Her first book in English, Now Worry., is forthcoming from Department Press.

Stephen Emmerson lives in Leeds, edits Blart & co organises Writers Forum North. Previous publications are X (The Arthur Shilling Press); Poems found at the scene of a murder (Zimzalla); and Telegraphic Transcriptions (Department Press). Coming soon is A never ending poem read with dice that goes on to explore the possibilities of human intervention within the context and illusion of chance (Zimzalla) &, with Chris Stephenson, No ideas but in things (The Arthur Shilling Press).

Ollie Evans is a poet, performer and puppeteer from London. For the past four years he has been making experimental ventriloquist theatre with his group, Dummy Company. In 2010 he started writing poetry dedicated to the intralingual noises found in speaking and translating. His first booklet, Stutter Studies has just been published by Department Press. The Comedy, a series of poems after Dante’s Divinna Commedia, is also due early next year through Holdfire Press.
