Code Club Trainer Needed!

Posted by Team MadLab, 11 months ago

We’re looking for someone to run MadLab’s Code Club!

Could that be you?

MadLab has been hosting a Code Club for years now. And – fun fact – MadLab’s was the first Code Club in the world to take place outside of a school setting!

We are now part of a network of over 10,000 clubs across the world. As a Code Club manager, you will be teaching super-keen 9-11 year olds Scratch, HTML, and Python – plus delivering fun activities and projects to engage and inspire the next generation of coders.

The reason this role has opened up is that Chris Ball – our resident maker, tinkerer, all-round coding expert, and lovely person is *really* busy with real-life work. He says:

“It’s been a pleasure to run the Code Clubs at MadLab and MadLab Salford for the last few years. The kids I’ve taught have always been quick to learn, hardworking and a pleasure to teach.”

He adds:

“I’m only stopping due to work commitments, and I hope to restart the club at some point this year [if no-one can step in].”

Do you fancy it?

Here’s the lowdown: Code Club is held at MadLab every Sunday during term time, from 2-3pm. You’ll be given a lot of freedom to run the club as you see fit – and we are big fans of extra curricular activities – like Mitch Altman’s visit for example. You will be trusted with keys to MadLab, and will need to undergo a safety induction as well as DBS checks. Please note that this is a volunteering position.
