MadLab Blog: Major Transitions

Blog: Major Transitions

MadLab director Asa Calow has just got back from Paris where he’s been presenting at Major Transitions in Digital Society – a workshop organised by the Centre for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI – https://cri-paris.org/).

Led by Martin Hillbert, the workshop brought together an eclectic mix of eminent thinkers to identify the challenges posed by the current digital transition of society. Its goal: to chart the way forward.

Asa talked about the future of leisure in a work-free society, and advised on CRIs future Major Transitions research programme which will kick-off later on this year/ early next. We also bumped into our friends Hackteria who were running an open hardware and microfluidics workshop nearby. If you’ve never heard of them, check them out at https://www.hackteria.org/ for freewheeling art-sci madness.

CRI is developing an open and collaborative research program to tackle the world’s challenges, focusing on bridging foundational research and societal impact: from tracing past major transitions to understanding and shaping current digital transition.
