If you have an interest in digital innovation, tinkering with electronics, or just fancy having some fun with the laser cutter, then look no further than MadFabLab. Our brand spanking new courses and workshops have been created to help get you started on your digital making journey.

Introduction to Soldering £20

If you’ve ever been curious about electronics this is the workshop for you. Learn the art of soldering, the must-have skill for any budding maker. You’ll leave with the knowledge to continue soldering on your own and take home your soldered kit too!

Introduction to Laser Cutting: Wooden Coaster Tiles £20

Learn to add the personal touch in this two hour introduction to laser cutting. Starting with the basics of designing in Inkscape, you’ll go on to create a beautiful, unique wooden coaster etched with your photo.

Introduction to 3D Printing: Make a Keyring £20

Want to create your own 3D printed model? Starting with the basics principles of 3D printing and design, you will design a 3D model, prepare a 3D file for printing and create your own 3D print on the Ultimaker 3 to take home.

Introduction to Arduino £110

Try your hand at coding with electronics. Learn all about the Arduino (a programmable circuit board and software) and how it can be used to build imaginative projects. Take home your own ARDX Experimentation Kit from Oomlout (worth £62!), containing an Arduino Uno (Classic) and all the wires and electronic components (LEDs, sensors, motors, buttons) you need to carry on tinkering at home!

MadFabLab is an open-access workshop for Manchester’s hackers, makers, and tinkerers – whether actively curious, seasoned anti-disciplinarian, or any/all points in between – providing shared tools and space to create amazing new things, play and experiment with new technology, and meet and collaborate with others.
