February Meetup:

UPDATE: Following our popular talk on Libreboot in September, we’d planned to have the founder of Libreboot with us this month. Unfortunately Leah now can’t make it, but the meeting topic will go ahead regardless. Michael Dorrington, Manchester Free Software (Feb 20).

The talk will include:

  • Dangers of Intel ME, AMD’s equivalent and others;
  • Work done on removing / disabling these “MEs”;
  • Libreboot on Chromebooks;
  • Talos: concept, reason(s) for failure, post-failure;
  • Libreboot D16 desktop/workstation and server;
  • Future of owner controlled hardware.

Further, help and advice on installing Libreboot will be available.

The meeting will be followed by informal discussion and socialising in the Terrace (which is next door to Madlab).  There are non-alcoholic drinks available and there is no pressure to consume alcohol.
