We're also on the hunt for volunteers who can help us to support Shift Click community events in Stockport. That might be in the form of running a workshop, photography, or admin. There are many different forms that volunteering can take, and we welcome all skill levels.

In return, we'll offer you regular socials and opportunities for training, where you can grow your skills and network.

Our valued volunteers are motivated to get involved for a variety of reasons, like: gaining work experience, expanding their professional networks, acquiring transferable skills, and supporting their community.

Become a Shift Click Mentor

We’re looking for digital industry professionals who’ll be able to use their extensive knowledge of the Greater Manchester tech community to provide timely and valuable support to learners on Shift Click.

Mentoring is flexible and around your availability. We currently work with several senior developers and engineers, responsible for large teams in global organisations, freelance software developers, junior devs, UX specialists, and people who have recently started their first job or apprenticeship. To date, our mentors have helped see over 300 people into roles at the BBC, Auto Trader, Barclays, Music Magpie, UKTV, Manchester International Festival and more.

"I've been an IT professional for three decades now, and it's since mentoring with MadLab that I've felt a sense of purpose for the first time in a long time. I've mentored over 20 people to date and it's great to see them making it to the job market" - Mentor, Gambling.com

We’re particularly keen to hear from people with experience in UX, Software Development, Data Analysis, Cybersecurity, DevOps and AI. We’d also welcome enquiries from anyone with experience in engaging young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment.
