Coming Soon: Stockport Family Tech Sessions

MadLab Family Tech Sessions is a series of family-friendly events for aspiring young digital creatives aged 5-17 and their parents – taking place during public holidays and weekends this Autumn and Winter (2025-26) in central Stockport. Family Tech Sessions builds on MadLab’s decades long experience delivering hands-on digital programming, combining:

  • Full-day and half-day workshops, delivered by energetic workshop leads from MadLab’s extended network of digital artists, inclusive tech practitioners, and creative industry experts. Content will be themed to attract a broad audience, covering e.g. games design, animation, prototyping in code, playful electronics, 3D printing and digital fabrication, robotics, AI, Virtual Reality, and more. Previous over-subscribed workshops to return – alongside fresh programming – include e.g.: “Stop Motion Animation”; “Save the World with Minecraft”, with published author Alan O’Donohue; “Tinkerbots: Build your own robots”. Workshop themes and content will evolve successively, in response to audience feedback, with further steering from a recruited youth panel.
  • Tech-themed social gatherings, bringing the extended Family Tech Sessions community of families, volunteers, and network experts together for a community-led “show and tell” session featuring hands-on play and experimentation with digital tools, games & virtual reality, workshop-inspired DIY creations, chat and Q&A with creative network participants, and expert-led guided discussion on topics such as AI, robotics, electronic music, and games development.
  • A festive-themed “Christmas Hackathon”, bringing together junior teams for a day to quickly co-design and co-develop seasonally themed digital prototypes – games, electronics, AR/VR, apps, etc. – with prizes for the best, most ambitious, and most creative.

We’ll have more information soon. Check back regularly for updates, or sign up <here> for MadLab's newsletter – be amongst the first to hear about what’s planned and book your places!
