MadLab’s mix of formal, and informal training reaches deep into communities, and creates long-lasting, positive change. We have a rapidly-expanding expert-led learning programme – offering people the opportunity to learn a wide variety of digital skills, with a diverse set of learning outcomes. As well as professional development delivering direct to businesses, MadLab also works on behalf of organisations, local councils, third sector and creative/ tech organisations, to deliver making and digital courses to their users.

Professional Development

Our courses and workshops offer opportunities to develop skills in areas such as WordPress, SEO, Google Analytics and Programming 101. They are the perfect introduction to need-to-know tech and are great for career development and exploring new learning avenues. We have opportunities for everyone, whether you are a beginner or a mid-career practitioner! Both can be offered at a location of your choosing or in MadLab’s own headquarters.

Perhaps you’re interested in a team building away-day, exploring the potential of rapid-prototyping or just want to experiment with new technologies like 3D printing or laser cutting? Our innovation and making sessions provide the perfect opportunity to gain some practical, hands-on experience with tutors at the forefront of digital making.

Innovation Workshops

We pride ourselves on being an innovation hub and a place where ideas come to life. Our creative workshops are perfect for continued professional development and can be tailored to both supplement, and engage with programmed events. Ideal for experience seekers, arts and cultural professionals and audiences alike, we aim to inspire through exposure to new methods and technologies. From electronics, science and digital making, to a small, single-board computer used for teaching basic computer science skills called Raspberry Pi, there is something for everyone to advance their skill-set in a creative way.

MadLab works on behalf of organisations, schools, local councils, third sector and creative/ tech organisations, to deliver making and digital courses to their users. In the past, we have successfully collaborated with clients such as Arts Council England, British Council, Manchester City Council, The University of Manchester, FutureEverything and Nesta. Our workshops are completely flexible and can be tailored to meet your needs. Many can be arranged as a drop-in session to run within a larger event, or as a package of workshops. Children and Young People’s Workshops

From electronics, micro-computing, and digital making to design-thinking and robotics, there is something to bring out the tinkerer in everyone!

Workshops are completely flexible and can be tailored to meet your desired duration, size and age range. They can be arranged as a drop-in session to run within a larger event, as a standalone event, or as a package of workshops. They are suitable for classrooms, event spaces, and away days and are ideal for schools, colleges, and creative organisations. Alternatively, you can learn off-site at MadLab’s HQ in Manchester city centre.
